THE POSITION
Sr Systems Engineer -- Functional Safety, Continental Automotive Systems, Inc., Auburn Hills, MI:
Develop Functional Safety work products for road vehicle Safety Critical systems based on ISO26262 and Continental internal safety process requirements. Conduct hardware and software safety analyses to ensure that the system or product meets safety goals and requirements. Support Functional Safety Assessments for assigned projects, ensuring there are no blocking points for the product release and documenting the results. Analyze the customer specification documents for Functional Safety Requirements. Perform Functional Safety Assessments for new projects. Perform Impact Analysis from a functional safety management perspective to check safety implications for change requests. Provide training and raise awareness about functional safety principles and practices within the organization. Ensure team members understand their roles and responsibilities related to safety. Identify areas for improvement in functional safety processes and methodologies. Implement lessons learned from previous projects to enhance safety practices.
Telecommuting permitted up to 60% per week.
Full time employment, Monday -- Friday, 40 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field and 2 years of related work experience.
Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in all the following:
- Applying ISO26262 for developing safety critical electrical and electronic systems in the automotive industry;
- Managing product safety lifecycle from concept to decommissioning, ensuring compliance with ISO26262;
- Reviewing customer specification documents with the project team to ensure functional safety requirements can be implemented and validated;
- Conducting Requirements Analysis using tools, including DOORS or DOORS Next Gen;
- Creating and analyzing bidirectional traceability between Stakeholder requirements and Test results;
- Using tools, including APIS or Isograph or Medini, to perform functional safety analysis from a hardware and software perspective to ensure customer safety requirements or ISO26262 requirements are met;
- Performing risk assessment of validation and verification of results;
- Preparing and updating functional safety work products;
- Independently leading assessments or customer reviews of the functional safety work products related to the safety critical product; and
- Coordinating, collaborating, and communicating with teams in different offices to plan and perform assessments or customer reviews related to functional safety.
