Who We Are:
The Heavy Duty Engine Lab of the Commercial Vehicle Systems Department is responsible for conducting emissions and fuel efficiency measurements of Diesel, Gasoline and alternative fueled engines. We support OEMs, Tier 1 Suppliers and Government agencies in evaluating future powertrain systems. By joining our team, you will receive $500 on you first paycheck (minus applicable taxes).
Objectives of this Role:
- Assist with the department and division goals through engine testing activities assisting OEM engine manufactures with the development and certification of emissions compliant and fuel efficient engines.
- Support overall laboratory operations by performing a variety of mechanical tasks associated with installing and operating engines and test cells along with emissions analyzers and data recording equipment.
- Support laboratory and test cell operations to include evening, night and weekend operations when necessary.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Operate test cells and observe, monitor and record data while making adjustments to engine and test cell equipment to achieve defined test specifications.
- Interface with various test cell and engine related software.
- Install engines and test articles on test stands and perform the related mechanical and fabrication tasks.
- Perform basic and advanced engine modifications, diagnostics and repairs and change out engine components.
- Must be able to adhere to operating policies and procedures and perform tasks in a safe and efficient manner while producing professional and quality results.
- Demonstrate motivation and a willingness to learn and retain new skills and work productively with team members or in a solo environment while taking the lead on some activities.
- Follow written and verbal instruction from management and project leaders.
- Perform all other duties as requested by management and team leaders.
Requirements:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Automotive, Mechanical, Engine Technology certifications preferred
- Shift work required.
- 2 - 6 years: Automotive/ mechanical experience obtained from either high school, vocational training or previous hands on engine/ mechanical repair work.
- Must be able to work overtime, shift work and weekends when needed.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
