We are seeking a Senior Unified Communications Engineer in Fairfax, VA, with extensive experience in IT systems and technology within a telecom environment. This role demands a deep understanding of both legacy switching and modern Unified Communications technologies. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience working with a range of IT systems and technology, including gateways, routers, switches, and VoIP systems, and will be adept at translating business requirements into effective communications solutions.
Key Responsibilities
The base range for this contract position is $40 - $100/per hour, depending on experience.
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We are seeking a Senior Unified Communications Engineer in Fairfax, VA, with extensive experience in IT systems and technology within a telecom environment. This role demands a deep understanding of both legacy switching and modern Unified Communications technologies. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience working with a range of IT systems and technology, including gateways, routers, switches, and VoIP systems, and will be adept at translating business requirements into effective communications solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the translation of business requirements into Unified Communications (e.g., LAN, CAN, WAN, voice, and video) requirements, designs, and orders.
- Design and oversee the implementation of supporting cable/wiring infrastructure for construction projects, ensuring integration of voice, data, video, and wireless systems.
- Provide oversight and support for Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems and Contact/Call Center operations.
- Conduct in-depth engineering analysis of Unified Communications alternatives for government public safety agencies, supporting strategic modernization and enhancement efforts.
- Design and implement Unified Communications solutions for medium and large-scale telecommunication infrastructures, including 9-1-1 systems.
- Develop recommendations and supporting metrics for Unified Communications projects and improvements.
- Manage overall program activities, including making presentations and providing updates to national, state, and local officials.
- At least five (5) years of experience with IT systems and technology in a telecom environment, including both legacy switching and Unified Communications technologies.
- Knowledge and experience with configuration and maintenance of gateways, routers, switches, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, network server platforms, TDM, Dialogic systems, and VoIP systems (including SIP, H.323 protocols, dial peers, and VoIP carrier trunking).
