Position: Staff Accountant Location: Atlanta, GA Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 Remote Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our team. This role will focus on ensuring the accuracy of financial records, managing cash, preparing reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities. You will play a critical role in analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. This position is fully remote, but candidates must be based in the Atlanta, GA area. Key Responsibilities: Maintain accurate accounting records and prepare balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations. Perform daily cash management tasks, including balancing, reconciling, and reporting cash activity. Prepare and post journal entries as part of the month-end and year-end close processes. Reconcile general ledger data to sub-ledger and other system data. Assist with the reassignment of loans (re-pooling) and manage cash receipts and reconciliations. Perform daily balancing and reconciliation of cash lockbox accounts. Identify and implement best practices to improve financial reporting efficiency. Support the preparation of ad-hoc financial reports for management. Research and resolve cash discrepancies in a timely manner. Ensure adherence to department policies, procedures, and SOX compliance. Assist in managing prepaid expense amortization, reconciliation, and the GAP/Auxiliary prepayment process. Collaborate on post-close analysis and quarterly reporting. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with a team. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
