Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This role will support the accounting department through a variety of general accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll backup, monthly reconciliations, and other financial tasks. Initially, this position will be part-time (30 hours per week) for training, with the potential to increase to full-time after a couple of weeks, and will eventually be full-time by the end of the year. The role will offer a hybrid work schedule, with three days in the office and two days working remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting tasks, including processing accounts payable and receivable.
- Prepare monthly financial analyses and make journal entries for accrued utilities.
- Handle payroll journal entries and benefit accruals.
- Assist in preparing and recording sales & use tax filings and refunds.
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
- Maintain organized financial records and assist with audits as needed.
- Provide backup support for other accounting functions as required.
- Collaborate closely with the Accounting Manager and other team members to ensure smooth financial operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of general accounting experience.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- Strong experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
- Non-profit experience is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with Blackbaud and QuickBooks preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel (including basic formulas and data manipulation).
- Detail-oriented with a strong ability to maintain accurate financial records.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
