Position: Tax Accountant (Property Tax)
 
Location: Charlotte, hybrid

• 4x/week in office

Contract Length: FTE
 
Top Requirements: 

1. Degree in business or something related in the US
2. Accounting experience (1+ years)
   • Should have experience at ONE job only out of school, between 1-2 years longevity
3. Excel experience
   • V look ups, pivot tables

Nice to Haves

1. Masters would be great
2. Accounting degree
3. Big 4 or regional accounting firm experience
4. Working toward CPA       

 
Day to Day Responsibilities/project specifics:  This goes in cycles - tax compliance and return filing season is February thru May and will involve preparing tax returns. The accountant will be in tax software preparing with others in the organization. A good bit of Excel work is involved, but the candidate does not need to know the property tax software. Starting in June thru the fall involves receiving value notices -in property tax you send in your opinion of value, assessor will then determine value and the company pays somewhere in the middle. At this point, there will be back and forth with assessors – the candidate will be supported during this process. At this time, the person will need to keep up with the values as they come in to understand how values differ from what is expected. Going into the winter (Q4), we receive bills for settled values. This person will need to keep up with the bills that come in to determine accuracy and give ok to process them. Also in Q4, we can update our accounting estimates to actual billed amount.
