We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our fast-paced construction company. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a challenging environment, has a passion for numbers, and is eager to contribute to the growth of a leading organization in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to multitask. This role will involve maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, preparing and distributing weekly management reports, and performing ad hoc financial analysis.
Responsibilities
As a Staff Accountant, your main responsibilities will include:
1. Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
2. Preparing and distributing weekly management reports to provide a clear picture of the company's financial status.
3. Reconciling financial discrepancies and identifying any potential issues that may arise.
4. Conducting ad hoc financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
5. Preparing and posting job cost transfers to ensure the accurate allocation of costs.
6. Maintaining accrual and amortization schedules, as well as fixed assets and depreciation.
7. Providing support to the team on any accounting issues and contributing to the resolution of these issues.
8. Ensuring the effective management of inventory and contributing to the development of inventory control procedures.
Qualifications
To be considered for this exciting role, you should have:
1. A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
3. Strong attention to detail and advanced organizational skills.
4. Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work effectively under pressure.
5. Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with other financial software.
6. Knowledge of job cost accounting and experience in maintaining fixed assets and depreciation.
7. The ability to maintain balance sheet reconciliations and prepare weekly management reports.
8. Experience in conducting ad hoc financial analysis and reconciling financial discrepancies.
9. A strong understanding of accrual and amortization schedules.
10. Experience in inventory management will be an added advantage.
