Objective:
The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for general accounting and finance duties of the Bank, including, but not limited to the following financial processes – general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and fixed asset accounting. This position exercises discretion and independent judgment in regards to GL posting and balancing.
Essential Duties:
- Support the monthly close process by preparing journal entries and completing month-end tasks.
- Prepare account reconciliations for general ledger accounts, internal deposit accounts, and correspondent bank accounts and verify completeness of reconciliations prepared outside of Accounting/Finance.
- Financial reporting and analysis, including preparation of consolidated financial statements and footnotes in accordance with GAAP.
- Regulatory reporting, including preparation of the FDIC call report and other regulatory filings.
- General ledger accounting and deposit and loan-related accounting, including research to respond to inquiries from management, vendors, or employees which may include but not be limited to extracting system data and utilizing various means to provide professional responses.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset accounting system.
- Assist in development and implementation of accounting policies and internal financial controls and procedures.
Secondary Duties:
- Coordinate and assist with external audits.
- Assist with budget preparation.
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, and employees in a courteous and professional manner.
- Other special projections/analyses as requested by management.
- Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
This position requires 40 hours each week with the majority of work being completed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Some evenings are necessary to meet deadlines. Travel is minimal to meet with customers, go to branches, and attend conferences/training.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or commensurate experience
- 3 years previous experience in an entry level staff accountant position or commensurate experience
Work Environment:
This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
