Position Summary
The Accountant will be a key player in overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department. This role involves managing various accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, billing, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will ensure precision in financial management and contribute to the firm's ongoing success through effective accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Accounting Operations: Supervise accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), cash receipts, billing, invoices, general ledger entries, and other daily accounting transactions.
- Invoice Management: Accurately process client and consultant invoices in alignment with contractual terms.
- WIP Reporting: Prepare and generate Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports for project managers.
- Contract Accounting: Apply expertise in contract/project accounting, including forecasts and percentage-of-completion methods.
- Certified Payroll: Review and approve subcontractor certified payroll, ensuring submission via ADP.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct revenue and expenditure variance analysis to support financial oversight.
- Cash Management: Oversee cash management activities, including bank account reconciliations, deposits, and check runs.
- Monthly Closing: Manage the monthly close process, including the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Tax Coordination: Coordinate year-end tax planning and tax return processes with external CPA firms, and oversee tax payments.
- Audit Management: Facilitate and manage annual audits.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with a preference for experience in the commercial construction industry or a related field.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in managing AP/AR, billing, and general ledger functions.
- Knowledge of contract and project accounting, including forecasting and percentage-of-completion methods.
- Experience in certified payroll processing and financial statement preparation.
- Strong analytical skills for conducting revenue and expenditure variance analysis.
- Competence in cash management, including bank reconciliations and check processing.
- Ability to effectively coordinate tax planning, returns, and audits.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $75,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience.
