Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the accounting team by performing a variety of tasks, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices, manage accounts payable and receivable, and ensure timely payments and collections.
- Month-End Close: Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and adjustments.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Provide support in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances, and providing insights to management.
- Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ad Hoc Reporting: Prepare various ad hoc financial reports as required by management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in accounting or a related field is preferred. Experience in a similar role in Lansing, MI, is a plus.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
