About the Job
We are searching for a full-time Staff Accountant to perform full cycle accounting duties. This position is an on-site position and will be based at our Log Cabin Branch (Macon).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable process including payment of invoices and vendor management.
- Bank reconciliations for various internal accounts.
- Monitoring and management of certain general ledger accounts, including understanding of business transactions that impact the account.
- Preparing account reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
- Preparing journal entries with required support.
- Preparing, enhancing and creating reports for management on an as needed basis.
- Supporting process improvement initiatives in various areas, where needed, by partnering and supporting other departments of the bank.
- Providing backup for Assistant Controller.
- Supporting special projects.
Environmental and Physical Activity
- Fast-paced banking/business office environment with standard office temperature, moderate noise from computer(s), printer(s), telephone, fax, copier, scanner and other office equipment, and median traffic.
- Ability to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, reach, left (up to 15 pounds), and stand for various lengths of time and meet other physical demands required to perform the job.
- Ability to operate and use a computer, printer, telephone, fax, copier, scanner, other office equipment and tools needed and used to perform this job.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
- 1 - 5 years of accounting experience in the banking industry is preferred.
- Experience with Jack Henry Products and/or Cognos is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proficient with of the ability to quickly learn the applications, hardware, and software used in the Bank.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Project management experience, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
