About the Job
Spye, a national leader in integrated system technology, is seeking a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records and ensuring accurate financial transactions for the contractor and its related companies. This role involves a variety of accounting tasks and requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. The Staff Accountant will support the financial operations of the AV and Solar divisions, as well as manage accounting activities for the building ownership and solar power generation companies.

Responsibilities
General Accounting:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Accounts Payable:
- Oversee the accounts payable process and ensure timely payment of vendor invoices.
- Reconcile accounts payable balances.
- Supervise the Accounts Payable Clerk and provide guidance as needed.
Accounts Receivable:
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices.
- Prepare and send invoices to clients.
- Apply customer payments and maintain accurate AR records.
- Reconcile accounts receivable balances.
- Handle collections activities and resolve any AR issues.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and analyses for management.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support business decisions.
Audit and Compliance:
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain documentation for audit trails.
Tax and Regulatory:
- Assist with the preparation of tax filings and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
Property and Solar Power Generation Accounting:
- Manage accounting activities for the building ownership and solar power generation companies.
- Prepare and review financial reports for these entities.
- Monitor and report on the financial performance of related companies.
Cross-functional Support:
- Collaborate with the AV and Solar divisions to support their financial needs.
- Provide support and guidance to the Accounts Payable Clerk and other team members.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Other responsibilities as directed by management as required for business operations
Requirements:
- Authorized to work in the USA.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a mid-sized company or contractor environment.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
