About the Job
Overview:
We are looking for a Staff Accountant for an on-site position in downtown NYC on a project basis.
Responsibilities:- Post to GL daily cash receipts and disbursements from banking activity
- Research and apply unallocated cash transactions
- Ensure activities posted to both cash and assigned GL accounts are reconciled in a timely manner
- Assist in the preparation of online banking activities
- Monitor AP inbox, maintain supporting bills and documentation, and code expenses
- Assist with preparation of recurring journal entries (depreciation, prepaids, rental exp/revenue, etc) and related support schedules
- Assign GL codes, prepare for review by management.
- Generate accounting statements and reports as required by supervisor
- Maintain check log, prepare deposit of check received
- Credit card and check donations reconciliation
- Prepare and post investment journal entries
- Reconcile credit card expenditures
- Assist with preparation of invoicing and related support schedules
- Assist with month end, quarterly and year end reporting, audits and inquiries as required
- Assist with yearly budget/reforecasting preparation as needed
- Prepare monthly/quarterly rental schedules
- Maintain other revenue/expense schedules as necessary
- Ideal candidate is goal oriented and has 2+ years of extensive solid Nonprofit Accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required)
- Software/Platforms: Proficiency with recent and relevant experience to be referenced:
- Sage Intacct,
- Financial Edge,
- Fundraising software (Altru experience preferred),
- Accounts Payable platforms (AvidXchange, BILL etc.)
- MS Office (Excel: V-Lookups, Formulas, Pivot Tables,)
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Public Accounting and / or extensive accounting experience preferably in non-for-profit
