Position Summary:
We’re seeking a Staff Accountant to ensure our financial records and budgets remain accurate and on track. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for numbers and a deep understanding of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, taxes, and other financial transactions. In this vital support role, you will provide clarity on our financial outlook, using precise and proactive measures to help guide our decision-making and contribute to Kistler’s growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Files sales tax forms with state and local government agencies.
- Prepares monthly financial reports and analyses, including expense reports by cost center.
- Conducts cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement, utilizing analytical tools and financial data to support decision-making.
- Prepares and presents monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, correcting journal entries from various departments to ensure accuracy and address any errors or omissions.
- Utilizes analytical review techniques to ensure accurate reporting by identifying discrepancies in journal entries, account activity, and account reconciliations.
- Handles monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, including accurate preparation and booking of journal entries (prepaids, accruals, and investments).
- Manages accounting for fixed assets, including creating entries in the sub-ledger, calculating, and applying depreciation, and reconciling fixed assets in progress.
- Performs FX valuation calculations and supports inventory year count cycles.
- Provides year-end audit support and back-up duties for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and the Tax and Accounting Manager as needed.
- Supports Kistler’s financial reporting software and reconciles intercompany account balances monthly.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures while providing solutions to accounting issues as they arise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required, along with at least three years of related experience.
- Must have SAP experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, as well as accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, financial accounting, sales and use tax filings, and cost accounting, with a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IFRS 16.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Inherently demonstrate a high level of integrity and trustworthiness, with experience in general ledger functions.
- Ability to sit at a desk for 90% of the workday and work on a computer for 70% of the workday.
