Staff Accountant - Mesa Airlines

Staff Accountant with Finance responsibilities for Mesa Pilot Development Program ("MPD")

Essential Functions:


* Monitor, analyze and reconcile GL activity and account balances
* Inventory database closing, review of monthly revenue reports, monthly journal entries prepared, uploaded, sent to approver and posted
* Interact with the Mesa Pilot Development team to ensure proper valuation and coding of all transactions
* Assists in the calculation of receivables from pilots. Participate in collection of receivables from MPD Pilots who complete or leave the program
* Assists in the preparation and presentation of the monthly Variance Analysis
* Miscellaneous monthly reports, analysis of accounts, meetings, and special projects as assigned
* Forecasting the revenue for MPD program.
* Meet monthly with FP&A analysts, Materials Management and Accounts Payable teams to review monthly activity and account balances
* Special projects and additional tasks as assigned.



* Assist with the monthly financial closing process as it relates to MPD accounting
* PMI database closing, monthly PMI reports review, monthly journal entries prepared, uploaded, sent to approver, and posted.
* Valuation of monthly revenue calculation of reserves, reconciliations of all accounts.
* Ensure monthly inventory variance analysis reports are prepared and reviewed timely
* Organize and prepare reports for monthly inventory variance analysis
* Assist in completion of external and internal audit
* Assist in the review of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations that are related to accounting for MPD
* Ensure compliance with key internal controls
* Miscellaneous monthly reports, analysis of accounts, meetings, and special projects as assigned






* Undergraduate college degree in Accounting or Finance
* Computer literate -- MS Office, Excel, Access, Sequel, PMI, Oracle
* Advanced excel skills preferred
* Detail oriented
* Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred requirements


* Previous hands on inventory accounting and/or finance experience
* Experience with Oracle software
* Airline industry experience
