Staff Accountant - Revenue Accounting & AR Collections

General Definition of Work

Responsible for revenue accounting and accounts receivable (AR) collections. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate revenue recognition, timely collections, and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Qualification Requirements

• Possess Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Two or more years of experience in revenue accounting and AR collections required.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate a sense of urgency when completing tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Essential Functions

• Revenue Accounting:
• Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare and review revenue-related journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Analyze revenue trends and variances to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Accounts Receivable Collections:
• Manage the AR aging report and follow up on overdue accounts.
• Communicate with clients to resolve billing issues and facilitate timely payments.
• Implement and maintain effective collection strategies to minimize bad debt.
• Prepare and distribute AR reports to management.
• General Accounting:
• Prepare and file sales tax returns.
• Gather and file supporting evidence for JSOX internal controls.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Physical Requirements

• Occasionally required to exert up to 10 pounds of force.
• Regularly required to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment/computer.
• Work has standard vision requirements to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
• Vocal communication is required using the spoken word to express or exchange ideas clearly so listeners can understand.
• Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
• Work is performed in a somewhat noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
