Staff Accountant Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with a strong focus on billing processes to join their construction team. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in Excel and accounting best practices to support accurate and timely billing operations, working closely with project managers and the accounting team to streamline processes and improve reporting accuracy.
Key Responsibilities for Staff Accountant:
- Billing Operations: Manage and oversee the billing process for various construction projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project timelines, contracts, and company guidelines.
- Data Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile project billings and work-in-progress (WIP) reports to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
- Excel-Based Analysis: Utilize advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis, to prepare billing schedules, analyze variances, and generate insightful reports.
- Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and operations teams to resolve any discrepancies related to billing and support budget adherence and cost tracking.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records for all billing activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements in billing operations to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.
Qualifications for Staff Accountant:
- Education: Associates degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of billing experience.
- Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis tools).
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, especially in managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports to support project and departmental decision-making.
