Staff Accountant
A CFS client is looking for a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join their team. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in the financial operations of a growing organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in the monthly close process and serve as a crucial liaison between the accounting/finance department and other business units. The position requires a professional who is experienced with GAAP reporting, possesses strong interpersonal skills, analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. We are seeking an individual who can work independently in a dynamic, team-based environment.
Staff Accountant Key Responsibilities:
- Provide timely and accurate accounting and reporting of the financial operations for assigned business lines, including monthly journal entries, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Collaborate with business leaders monthly to review results, operational metrics, and provide recommendations.
- Work closely with business teams to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate invoice coding and processing.
- Proactively identify and resolve coding errors and inaccuracies in cash deposits to maintain accurate financial reporting.
- Manage monthly journal entries, expense accruals, and GAAP adjustments.
- Gain a thorough understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and profit margins across various business lines.
- Prepare consolidated and stand-alone monthly GAAP financial statements.
- Complete detailed reconciliations and support schedules for month-end close and annual audits.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve business process deficiencies.
Staff Accountant Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with business intelligence and reporting software (e.g., Workday Adaptive Planning) is preferred.
- Experience in the renewable energy or utility power sectors is a plus.
Travel and Work Environment:
This is a 100% remote position, with occasional travel to Washington, D.C., for business purposes.
Compensation:
$60,000.00 - $85,000.00, depending on experience and skills, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
