Description
Summary:
The positions primary role is to assist the Controller with accounting functions and maintain internal administrative controls. This will require individual accountability as well as responsibility for accounting functions performed by the administrative team. The Staff Accountant will also participate in the fulfillment of a variety of monthly duties including, but not limited to, assisting in preparation of financial statements, regulatory and compliance reports, completion of benefits documents and employee file maintenance.
Critical Job Functions:
Accounting:
· Maintain GAAP compliant accounting processes and records
· Adhere to the system of internal controls designed to mitigate risk
· Perform standard accounting tasks that include; journal entries, payroll and asset tracking, account reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
· Comply with local, state and federal reporting requirements
· Responsible for daily general ledger and banking reconciliation procedures
Administrative and Budget Management:
· Assist with planning and execution of financial transactions for the company
· Assist in production of monthly and YTD financial statements
· Assist with the budget development and review process
· Assist with preparation of reports for board meetings
· Report on adherence to budget with the Controller
· Assist Controller with maintaining a positive, professional and productive work environment
Human Resources and Benefits:
· Assist with selected human resource responsibilities with the Controller
· Assist with overseeing payroll systems and payroll reporting
· Assist with employee benefits administration, tracking anniversary and eligibility dates
· Manage employee files for compliance with government regulations
· Assist with employee onboarding and separation process
Requirements
Education, Experience and other Qualifications:
· Bachelors Degree in Accounting, preferred
· 3+ years as a staff accountant or comparable position
· Team oriented
· Ability to positively impact the work environment and job experience for others
· Excellent communication skills with strong organizational and analytical skills
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
The ability to lift or move a box of office paper to a height of 3-4 feet
