Staff Accountant
Client Summary: Systecon LLC, located in West Chester, OH, is a manufacturer of industrial HVAC modular plants, modular chiller plants, modular boiler pants and modular utility plants. We are in a state of growth and are looking to add personnel to our Accounting department.
The Staff Accountant will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for managing multiple accounting functions. The position requires a strong understanding of project cost accounting in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate would possess a proficient understanding of Microsoft Office products as well as be able to work independently with minimal direction and be eager to learn and understand the business.
Location: West Chester, OH (100% in-office)
Sizzle: CFO is retiring in about a year and this person will be promoted to Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform general accounting duties, including journal entries, account reconciliations and maintain the general ledger.
· Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow and budget variance reports.
· Provide support during annual audit review.
· Oversee sales and use tax reporting, compliance and other regulatory requirements. Knowledge of Avalara is a plus.
· Manage cash disbursements and receipts, in addition to monthly bank reconciliation.
· Perform bi-weekly payroll entry and processing.
· Other duties as required.

Reason for opening: CFO is retiring in a year. Want to get someone in there to replace the CFO to learn the systems. CFO has been there for 23 years. Longevity is good. Accounting Degree. 3+ years of experience.
Thought process is at some point this person would become the Controller. Current Controller is the CFO.
Bonus: 10% bonus.
Interview Process: Phone screen with Ron, then bring person in for onsite. 2nd onsite. Then offer.
ERP: August but moving into new ERP system.
Haven't been looking too long: Had strong candidate who was close to to retire.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in accounting
- Manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Accounting, preferably in manufacturing, with an emphasis on project cost accounting, WIP (Work in Progress), POC (% of completion) and revenue recognition.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Proficiency with accounting software; experience with an ERP system preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and independent work ethic, with a passion for continuous learning and process improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a positive attitude.
