Job Title: Staff Accountant

Our client is a statewide community-based human services agency dedicated to improving lives through essential resources and support
Their mission addresses homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and community justice rehabilitation
They are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to ensure financial integrity and support their mission of transforming lives and building stronger communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with non-profit accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger by recording and reconciling journal entries, managing account balances, and ensuring accurate financial records.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in developing and analyzing annual budgets, providing variance analysis, and supporting financial forecasting.
Grants Management: Track and report on grant funds, ensuring compliance with grant agreements and preparing financial documentation for funders.
Audit Support: Facilitate internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and addressing audit inquiries and recommendations.
Revenue Recognition: Manage revenue recognition processes to ensure compliance with accounting standards and accurate financial reporting.
Cash Management: Monitor cash flow, perform bank reconciliations, and manage cash forecasts to maintain adequate liquidity.
Cash Applications: Oversee cash applications, ensuring timely and accurate posting of payments to accounts receivable.
Policy Development: Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and financial processes.
Team Collaboration: Support junior accounting staff, fostering professional development and ensuring effective team performance.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience: 4+ years in accounting, with a focus on non-profit financial management
Experience with fund accounting and grants management is a plus.
Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or similar certification preferred.
Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with a strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles.
Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and a meticulous approach to financial reporting.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with internal teams, donors, and auditors.
