Reporting to the VP, Controller, the Staff Accountant is an integral part of MRC’s Accounting team. The position works closely with colleagues across Film, Television and Shared Services in all functional areas. Primary responsibilities include day-to-day corporate accounting (e.g., accounts receivable, cash application, account reconciliation, journal entries, variance analysis, etc.) and support of period-end financial close and management reporting. Successful candidates will be highly motivated and team-oriented self-starters, who have directly applicable experience, strong GAAP accounting knowledge and analytical skills and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in quarterly and monthly financial closes and the delivery of corresponding management reporting and analysis
- Help prepare the quarterly financial statements, annual footnotes and 3rd party reporting
- Support annual financial statement and 3rd party participation audits
- Account Reconciliation, resolution of differences and cash forecasting
- Track and report financial commitments
- Identify and drive process improvements
- Ad-hoc projects as necessary
- 2 years in Accounting, with public accounting, a CPA/CPA in progress and entertainment industry experience a plus
- Strong technical GAAP accounting knowledge and experience preparing financial statements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. Great Plains, Concur, etc.)
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to command the details, think big picture, and balance multiple assignments in a fast paced, results-oriented environment
- Intellectual curiosity with a desire to learn and a passion for entertainment
- Exposure to ASC606 revenue recognition assessment for Film and TV license agreements and participation statement reporting a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
