General Summary: Provides psychological services to students including brief individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and referral to psychiatric and/or medical resources as needed. Provides consultation with administration, faculty and staff. With Counseling and Psychological Services team, coordinates provision of campus outreach services. Provides culturally informed to a diverse student population. Reports to the Director of the Wellness Center.
Essential Job Functions:
- Works under the clinical supervision and administrative supervision of the Director of the Wellness Center to provide individual counseling and clinical case management.
- Maintains at least 50% case load of direct counseling service.
- Provides crisis intervention and emergency assessments to students as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of appropriate community resources (e.g., social services, mental health services, etc.) for student referrals.
- Provides assessments, individual and group therapy for students presenting with mental health concerns in accordance with the ethical principles of the American Counseling Association and/or American Psychological Association.
- Provide outreach and training regarding mental health and developmental issues for faculty, staff and student groups.
- Provides consultation with administration, faculty and staff.
- Maintains accurate documentation including compiling of data for various reports.
- Maintains confidential case files and records.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Master's degree in counseling/mental health, social work or related field.
Experience: Minimum 1 - 2 years' experience in counseling or related field. Must be a Georgia licensed or license eligible mental health practitioner.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. Work is performed in an office.
