About the Role
This position involves a high degree of interface with all departments and plants. Organization, follow-through and communication skills are important factors for the success of this position. The incumbent will be expected to work independently using technical judgment and overall knowledge of Precor's mission and strategies. This position will also provide technical leadership to other members of the electrical engineering staff.
Responsibilities
Actively pursues continuous improvement and ease of doing business to meet or exceed customer needs.
Develops procedures and processes that lead to reliable designs.
Understands and uses the philosophy and tools of total quality and serves as an engineering resource in teaching the use of these tools to others within the department.
Researches and develops core technologies required by Precor to sustain or improve its competitive lead.
Designs, develops, analyzes and documents product designs which meet the functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability and safety requirements of Precor.
Acquires and applies skills necessary to design, develop and introduce new products with the greatest possible design margins and in the shortest amount of time.
Identifies, quantifies, and implements tools, methods, processes and equipment which improve the quality, reliability and productivity of the department.
Manages the daily development of the electrical portion of the product development process.
Effectively communicate information to co-workers, customers and suppliers required to do their jobs.
Serves as the project team leader throughout the initial phases of the New Product Introduction process, defining schedules, assigning tasks and quantifying progress against project goals.
Serves as a mentor to other electrical engineers within the company, helping them develop their design, analysis and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
7+ years of electrical or software design experience.
Ability to analyze components and systems to meet design goals.
Experience in design for manufacture and assembly of integrated systems
Ability to use industry standard CAD systems and/or compilers and emulators for design and documentation.
Ability to correctly use standard test and measurement equipment to quantify design margins and problems.
Ability to identify, quantify, and permanently resolve problems.
Ability to use standard PC's and PC applications including MS-DOS and Windows operating systems, and standard software applications including Excel, and Word.
Ability to positively communicate with customers (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments.
Project leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Degree highly desirable
