Who Are We Looking For?
As a Staff Product Manager IAM (Identity & Access Management), your goal is to ensure safe and secure access that keeps millions of AppFolio users and their data safe by taking a customer-centric approach to balancing security and convenience. You will be our thought leader in identity, authentication and user-facing security, advising and guiding customers and internal product development teams. A great fit is someone who loves leading the development of customer experiences, infrastructure, and tooling to secure and protect our customer data and accounts as if they were your own.
What You’ll Do
- Own the strategy for AppFolio’s identity and access management systems with a customer-focused lens
- Develop a 3 year vision, annual strategy and roadmap, and appropriate metrics for identity and access management in APM
- Work closely with product development teams, customers, Data Ops, Security, and other internal stakeholders on identity, authentication, and user permissions initiatives
- Define experiments and measure user behavior to inform prioritization and build-outs
- Develop a point-of-view on what AppFolio should own (build or acquire) and what we should partner on as related to identity, authentication, and user permissions systems
- Be acknowledged as an expert in property management and product management while showcasing your talents at 1-3 events per year in a speaker capacity
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of product experience with 7+ years in the identity domain
- Expertise and strong interest in identity, authentication, authorization, user roles and permissions; excited by protecting our customers and our business
- Expert in identity & access management landscape and trends for B2B and B2C products
- Technical background (Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, experience working as a software or data engineer is a plus) with interest to get into the code
- Strong knowledge of data security best practices (data classification, data encryption, data storage) as well as data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA)
- Experience with payments / fintech products is a plus
- Experience working as a product manager for a platform team

Compensation & Benefits
The base salary/hourly wage that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $152,200 - $190,000. The actual base salary/hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc. Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
