Staff Reliability Engineer - Omnivision Technologies
Santa Clara, CA
About the Job
- Product reliability assessment ownership driving hardware and software development to fully characterize lifetime issues and weaknesses of image sensors and packaging/assembly solutions
- Analysis of reliability qualification stress and test results and determine whether the CMOS Image Sensor products under development are qualified for mass production. Work with various technical groups and participate in the process of new product introduction.
- Drive failure analysis to support root cause analysis. Analyze the failure mode of products failed in reliability testing due to accelerated thermal, electrical and mechanical stress. Take corrective action to solve the failure issue and improve the quality and reliability of the CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) products.
- Work with R&D, design, process, package, and product engineers to qualify new process technologies, and provide design recommendations for advanced CMOS Image Sensor processes to meet customers’ reliability requirements in electrical perspectives.
- Collaborate with foundries to assess, characterize, and improve CMOS Image Sensor processes.
- Conduct weekly (2-way or 3-way if needed) meeting to align every project goal and schedule timeline.
- Perform statistical data analysis to predict product life using Minitab and Python. Analyze the statistical analysis results and process capability, and provide risk assessments for new process and designs.
- Prepare concise and detailed reliability test plans and reports with an emphasis on prioritizing tasks to meet challenging deadlines.
- Present project progress and results, and take corrective actions to solve product reliability issues.
- Make customer presentations and be involved in resolution of customer issues.
- Work with automotive customers to implement customer requirements.
- Quality Assurance
- Assure quality throughout the product lifecycle: product development, manufacturing, failure analysis, production releases, and servicing. Plan and work on quality for design, defining standard operating procedures for electrical quality control and quality assurance during the product development phase to ensure that risks are mitigated and problems are corrected as quickly as possible during ramp-up.
- Lead automotive quality improvement initiatives, implement proactive actions to reduce test quality incidents by driving cross department Lessons Learnt for Manufacturing and Test related items, Electrical outgoing Quality Control processes and related improvements, Safe Launch of Automotive Products, driving and implementing High Voltage Stress Testing of Automotive Products.
- Perform failure analysis utilizing pFA and eFA tools, e.g. cross-sectioning, emission microscopy, X-Ray analysis, SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), micro scope inspection, oscilloscope and OBIRCH, to define failure mode and physical hot spot, and to localize the location and root cause of failure.
- Analyze FMEA (failure mode and effect analysis) and perform statistical data analysis - box plot, histogram, distribution, scatter chart, normalization and linearity - by using MATLAB, Visual C, Excel, JMP and internal tools.
- Perform remote support for customers with multi-region facilities, which made camera modules and related products for automotive products.
- Drive the corrective action, preventive actions across all the technical groups for quality improvements.
- Verify customer module failure cases to ensure proper process control.
Job Requirements:
Master’s degree in Physics, Optics & Photonics, Electrical Engineering or related fields with three (3) years of experience as a quality engineer or process integration engineer.
Required experience:
- Si based device technology (CMOS, CIS, etc), including developing advanced processes.
- Semiconductor device physics and fabrication technologies.
- CIS process integration (from wafer manufacturing to backend color material & packaging) and product engineering.
- Advanced HDR CIS pixel design for automotive and security applications.
- CIS performance testing and characterization skills.
- Customer service, including RMA negotiation, Quality & Reliability verification and audit handling.
- Supplier quality management, including drive problem analysis, corrective actions, and monitor quality index.
- Recommend corrective actions to address problems found during failure analysis.
- Coordinate external or internal resource to solve issue at customer production line & test.
- Work and research experience in JEDEC/AEC/VDA6.3/MSDS process.
- Verify quality issue from customer side& failure analysis.
- Base on the failure analysis result to discuss with SQE and NPI team to drive supplier to improve.
