Staff Scientist, Analytical Development
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Staff Scientist, Analytical Development , are to:
- Design analytical experiments and work of medium to high complexity to drive new product development for global markets. The work includes:
- Method development
- Method validation
- Method transfer to manufacturing sites /CMOs
- Develop analytical procedures that meet all current regulatory requirements, and which can be implemented at manufacturing sites;
- Accurately interpret results and derive conclusions based on sound science;
- Oversee a 1-2 contract employees who are responsible for bench work. If required perform laboratory work;
- Precisely and thoroughly document the learnings and share the knowledge with the teams;
- Actively work with the Analytical Development group to help the team understand the underlying chemistry of the new products that are being developed;
- Correctly prepare product specifications;
- Plan stability studies and interpret stability study results;
- Prioritize the work to ensure on time delivery of results and achieve critical project milestones;
- Follow written procedures and analytical laboratory practices to ensure good quality and compliance;
- Draft and review SOPs, OIs and other relevant documents e.g., validation/transfer protocols and reports;
- Effectively present experimental findings to colleagues with scientific and non-scientific backgrounds.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, or international equivalent;
- Experience in the field of analytical development in the Rx, OTC, Consumer products industry or in an academic setting;
- Very good knowledge of relevant analytical techniques (HPLC, LC-MS, GC, UV-Vis, FT-IR, AAS);
- Excellent oral and written communication (emphasis on clear and concise), organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask;
- Self motivated to learn and develop within the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, or international equivalent, with eight or more years experience OR a Master’s degree in Science, or international equivalent, with 6 or more years experience OR a Ph.D. in Science or international equivalent, with 2 or more years of experience;
- Candidates with prior experience in Brand or Innovator (Non-Generic) Companies;
- Advanced degree in analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis or related field.
- Hands on knowledge in method development and validation of pharmaceutical tests (Assay, Impurities, Dissolution);
- Experience with evaluating and interpreting stability data using statistics /statistics software;
- Knowledge of GMPs and LIMS.
