Job Summary:
The Staff Network Solution Architect plays a critical role in designing and managing the organization's network infrastructure to ensure it is secure, scalable, and reliable. This individual will lead the development of network architecture, assess new technologies, and provide guidance on network best practices. The ideal candidate is an expert in network design and has extensive experience in managing complex network environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
• Network Design & Architecture: Lead the design and development of the organization's network architecture, ensuring it meets current and future business requirements. This includes designing LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and cloud-based networking solutions
• Technology Evaluation: Evaluate new networking technologies and solutions, making recommendations for integration into the existing architecture. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in networking and security technologies
• Security: Implement and maintain robust security practices, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and network access controls, to protect the network from threats
• Capacity Planning: Conduct capacity planning to ensure that the network infrastructure can support the organization's growth and evolving needs. Proactively identify and mitigate potential bottlenecks and performance issues
• Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including topology diagrams, configuration details, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Collaboration: Work closely with other teams, such as systems administrators, security teams, and software developers, to ensure seamless integration and operation of the network infrastructure
• Troubleshooting & Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting support for network issues, working with network engineers and operations teams to resolve complex problems quickly
• Vendor Management: Collaborate with vendors to select and implement network solutions, manage contracts, and oversee the deployment of new technologies
• Disaster Recovery: Design and implement network disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring minimal downtime in the event of a network failure
• Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to network engineers and other IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
• Cost Management: Work with financial stakeholders to budget and manage costs related to network infrastructure and projects
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field
• Experience: 12+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 5 years in a network architect role
• Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of network protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS), network hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls), cloud networking (AWS, Azure), and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware NSX, SDN)
• Security Knowledge: Deep understanding of network security practices, including firewalls, encryption, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CCIE, CISSP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, or equivalent
• Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading network architecture projects and guiding teams through complex technical challenges
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and provide innovative solutions
• May require occasional travel for meetings, site visits, or conferences
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with network automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible)
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and how they apply to network infrastructure
• Experience in specific industries (e.g., finance, healthcare) may be required depending on the role
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to network infrastructure
Salary Range
$136,000 - $158,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
