Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your job position is to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing of the facility nursing department through generation, management and revision of the master schedules while making adjustments for planned and un-planned leaves of absence, call-ins, and unplanned events, to meet the needs of the residents based on budget, census, and as may be directed by facility administration.
Delegation of Authority
As Staffing Coordinator, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Essential Functions/ Job Duties
- Development, management and revision of the master nursing schedules utilizing the approved computer software.
- Coordination with the Director of Nursing and other administrative staff to ensure adequate staffing and reporting of identified problems.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of census, staffing hours and staffing ratios to ensure compliance with state and federal, law/regulation as well as facility policies.
- Reviewing requests for paid time off (PTO), vacation, maternity leave, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and unpaid leaves of absence.
- Fulfilling staffing vacancies in advance to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts
- Keeping meticulous attendance records and assisting with the progressive disciplinary process if staff members accrue excessive absences and/or tardies
- Communicating with unit managers and the director of nursing / chief nursing officer regarding floor orientation scheduling for newly hired employees in the nursing department
- Checking time clock punch records against master schedules and noting the appropriate changes
- Signing time correction forms for events such as missing meal periods or forgetting to clock in/out.
- Responding to personnel related to leave requests, call-in, tardiness, time clock issues, and schedules.
- Assist in responding to applicant questions as necessary.
- Preparation of reports as directed.
- Responding to resident call lights when in resident areas.
- Attending and participating in continuing educational programs as required.
- May be required to assist in other positions as directed.
- Patriciates in committees as required by the Administrator.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- The Staffing Coordinator normally works indoors in climate-controlled office settings. However, movement throughout the nursing service area (i.e. nurses' stations, resident rooms, etc.) is expected.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies /personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances and may be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
- The Staffing Coordinator may be required to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and/or holidays, and/or in other positions temporarily, when necessary. This position is subject to call back during emergency conditions, including, but not limited to, severe weather, evacuation, or post-disaster.
- Is subject to injury from falls; burns from equipment such as copiers; odors; etc., throughout the work day, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Physical and Sensory Requirements*- (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
- Knowledge of other language(s) is beneficial.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, management, consultants, and support agencies.
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally ups t, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- Must be able to physically assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Sitting for extended periods of time should be expected.
- Typing and writing with wrist, finger as well as hand movement of twisting and bending is required.

Educational Requirements
- Graduation from High School; hold a GED; or equivalent.
- Florida Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); Florida License Practical Nurse (LPN); or Registered Nurse (RN)
Experience
- None required, but preferred. On-the-job training provided.
Specific Requirements
- Must have and maintain a clear and “Eligible” Status on the AHCA Background Screening
- Must maintain a clear, unencumbered, current CNA certification; LPN or RN license
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with management staff, consultants, personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies /personnel, and the general public.
- Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult personnel and residents/family member/visitors.
- Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
- Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.
