Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Steam Engineer to join our team at the Facility Power Plant in Chillicothe, Ohio. In this role, you will lead a team in the installation, repair, maintenance, and operation of powerhouse equipment, ensuring safe and efficient facility operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and train lower-level powerhouse workers and/or inmates in the operation and maintenance of powerhouse equipment, including boilers, turbines, and pollution control equipment.
- Conduct rounds of the powerhouse, reading gauges, adjusting equipment, and monitoring operations.
- Start, stop, and switch over generating equipment as required.
- Maintain detailed logs of operations, including gauge readings, fuel consumption, and power generation.
- Ensure security and safety protocols are followed, especially when working with inmates.
- Oversee inventory of parts and supplies, and perform maintenance on the area around the powerhouse.
Qualifications:
- Valid Steam Engineer License pursuant to Section 4104.19, Revised Code.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience as a licensed stationary engineer.
- Knowledge of powerhouse safety practices and stationary engineering.
- Ability to perform calculations (fractions, decimals, percentages) and complete routine forms.
- Physical capability to lift up to 80 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
- May involve rotating days and varying shifts, including weekends.
- Exposure to loud noise, dust, steam, fumes, high temperatures, and chemicals.
- Occasionally required to work in tight or confined spaces.
