ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Stationary Engineer for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Eareckson Air Station.
This is a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on shift at a time, 1 month off, at Eareckson Air Station (EAS), located in Sheyma, AK. While working on-site housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK is provided by government sponsored aircraft. This is a negotiated union position.
Summary/General Description of Job:
The incumbent is responsible for the accomplishment of all assigned and assumed duties required in the operation and maintenance of the power plant.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
• Operates and maintains four 4.4-megawatt engine-driven generators located in the primary power plant.
• Operates and maintains 33 emergency standby generators ranging from 10kw to 500 kw.
• Maintains and exercises all generators and generator assets periodically to ensure continued reliability.
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on auxiliary equipment, such as fuel oil transfer pumps, lube oil circulating pumps, centrifugal purifiers, circulating water pumps, fuel oil and lube oil systems, and soft water systems.
• Maintains proficiency in all areas of operations and maintenance.
• Ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations and practices.
• Maintains, repairs, and overhauls equipment to include disassembly, testing, and replacement of parts, fabrication, and reassembly.
• Operates a variety of pumps, valves, and motors.
• Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems.
• Performs related work as assigned.
Accountable For:
• Mechanical and electrical systems throughout the plant
• Electrical and pneumatic controls and automatic boiler/heat exchanger controls
• Occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work
• Working with high voltage equipment
• Observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters, and charts that register various aspects of the systems operation.
• Adjusting controls to ensure safe and efficient operation of the system and to meet demands for the service provided.
• Keeping all engines, machinery, and equipment of the system in good working order
• Reading and interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics, use technical analysis equipment, and precision measuring instruments and devices.
• Maintaining all maintenance logs and records required in the performance of assigned duties
• Detecting operating defects and faults
• Maintaining work schedules and uphold work standards
• Performing duties in a timely, cost-effective manner
• Communicating clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Working harmoniously with others
Work Conditions:
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to understand instructions, provide information, and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and lift and/or move heavier objects with assistance.
