Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Stations Design Support and Drafting Specialist to join our Planning, Engineering, and Construction team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote. Whatdoes a Stations Design Support and Drafting Specialist doforus?
A Stations Design Support and Drafting Specialist supports Stations Engineers, Stations Designers, and Stations Leaders in creating accurate and complete design packages, standards documentation, and construction specifications. They work with the engineering and design team to create complete and accurate engineering documents using AutoCAD, AssetSuite, Access, Excel, PDF Editing Software, etc. They generate working drawings and illustrations from free-hand sketches, notes, and catalog information using AutoCAD, PDF Editing Software etc. They create new material requests, bills of material, and cable lists using input from engineers and designers. They Identify and resolve material discrepancies between bills of material and material requests.
In addition, they coordinate with Engineers, Designers, and Leaders to develop and maintain the CAD manual, CAD block libraries, standard modules, manufacturer drawings, project processes, and engineering documentation. They develop and implement CAD training for Engineers and Designers. They assist in troubleshooting CAD issues, along with supporting designers and consultants throughout the design process. They manage engineering documents and drawings in the document management system.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Drafting and CADD
- PDF editing software (Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam)
- Civil and structural engineering drawings
- Electrical drawings and schematics
- Legal descriptions and easements
- American National Standards Institute (ANSI) drafting standards
- Basic electricity
Preferred:
- Electrical and stations drafting standards
- Working knowledge of Meridian Document Management Systems
- Electric utility and substation design
Skills in:
- Excel
- AutoCAD
- Access
- Document Management System
- File management
- Document plotting
Preferred:
- Asset Suite (labor entry, purchasing card, inventory)
- Advanced AutoCAD and PDF Editing
- Meridian Document Management System
Ability to:
- Take ownership and adapt quickly to new situations
- Communicate clearly and work well with others
- Be detail-oriented and accurate
- Thoroughly complete tasks within deadlines
- Collaborate effectively in a team environment
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Associate degree in related field or completion of a related two-year vocational/technical training program
OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Preferred:
- Associate degree in CADD technology
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in utility structural drafting, control drafting, or related field
Preferred:
- 3 years of experience in stations design/construction processes and procedures
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
