JOB TITLE: Buyer
SUPERVISED BY: Purchasing Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
Purchase and schedule delivery of assigned products in an economical and timely manner, analyze and manage material usage and support Senior Buyers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Purchases all items in an assigned class of products. | |
Maintains good rapport with vendors. | |
Negotiates the best possible prices/value for products. | |
Check in packers - check for completed purchase order lines. | |
Miscellaneous duties - update reports and schedules maintained by the purchasing department. | |
Oversee mill claims. | |
Maintain current knowledge of market conditions and technology. | |
Represent Benjamin in a professional manner at all times and support ethical standards in every transaction. | |
Performs other duties as related or assigned. | |
Good attendance is an essential function of this job. |
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree with an emphasis on business, or equivalent experience and 0-4 years experience in industrial purchasing and/or inventory management, of steel products.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of generally accepted purchasing practices and procedures.
Excellent negotiating, analytical and math skills.
Skilled in using data base information and ability to consistently apply procedures.
