3rd shift (10:30pm-6:30am) Overtime available. $1.00/hr shift premium.
Mission: The Steel Receiving/Placement Clerk maintains the flow of coiled steel to production area, from receiving to feeder placement, assists in the set-up of presses, and maintains production flow to the presses in an exemplary manner to optimize departmental performance according to the company quality policies.
Qualified Candidates will possess the following Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED,
- Three months of prior shipping/receiving and/or hilo experience
- A P&C hilo and crane license (or the ability to pass both written and practical tests to obtain them),
- Computer literacy
- An excellent work record, including attendance.
- Familiarity with QAD and a radio frequency system (RF Scanner), or similar systems, is desired.

The Primary Activities of the Steel Receiving/Placement Clerk include:
Standard Work:
- Unload, receive, and place raw steel coils into inventory using the RF scanner, and/or into proper storage location(s) using a crane or other required equipment.
- Unload steel from suppliers' trucks based on scheduled delivery times.
- Operate crane(s) to remove incoming steel and supply presses with coiled steel.
- Select appropriate raw steel from storage area, according to the router, and stage at press using proper RF functions to electronically move the steel from the locations. Feed steel to press feeder.
- Request (order) material (i.e raw steel), through the KanBan system for currently running part number as well as for backup part numbers.
- Operate department hilo including replacing propane tanks when necessary and performing maintenance check lists before operating hilo.
- Band partially used or broken steel coils, record the weight change and use the proper packaging.
Continuous Improvement/Lean Principles:
- Work with operators to improve setup and production, by having the required steel at the press in a timely manner, in order to eliminate downtime.
- Participate in and apply lean initiatives to work methods, including continuous improvement events, CIA's, quick set up, standardized work, and error-proofing.
- Participate in the development and implementation of successful action plans to achieve temporary and permanent corrective actions, as needed.
- Anticipate problems and work to eliminate them before they happen.
Quality:
- Use a RF scanner to properly transfer material electronically from the storage location to the point of use.
- Perform raw steel cycle counts at the end of each shift, by verifying inventory and informing Inventory Control of any discrepancies.

- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of responsible areas.
- Consistently adhere to, and support, company policies and procedures, including ISO, TS16949, and safety regulations.
- Follow all safety procedures, including Personal protective Equipment (PPE), controls, safety devices and use of coolants.
