The Group You’ll Be A Part Of

The Tualatin SEM Lab evaluates the experiments carried out by Lam's process development teams using electron microscopes. Our objective is to output lots of data while maintaining impeccable accuracy and data integrity. The technicians who work here enjoy collaborating and sharing processes with one another to refine their skills and achieve faster turn-times for our customers.

What You’ll Do

• Operate Thermo Fisher Helios FIB/SEM tools in preparation of cross section lamellae. Perform STEM imaging of prepared samples.
• Ensure security of customer IP through careful sample handling
• Work with other metrology technicians to learn best skills and iterate upon your imaging processes.

Who We’re Looking For

• Candidates interested in the field of electron microscopy as a career, whether you have prior experience or are looking for a career change.
• Careful, detail oriented observer and problem solver
• Someone who enjoys finding inefficiencies in repetitive processes
• Someone who is fond of learning and open to feedback
• Ability to work a night shift schedule. We do have day shifts which are offered to lab members based on tenure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a physical science or similar technical field. Understanding of relevant physics – electrodynamics, vacuum systems, voltage/current effects, ion sputtering behavior
• Prior experience operating an Electron Microscope. Prior experience operating dual beam FIB/SEM tools, especially in the preparation of thin lamella for STEM or TEM imaging.
• Prior experience working in a laboratory setting

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
