Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Operating Room Director /Charge Nurse the OR Instrument Technician cares for the instruments and supplies by cleaning, organizing and wrapping them in an approved manner conducive to sterilization and disinfection techniques.

Required Qualifications:

• Knowledge of sterilization techniques, instruments and processing.

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous work in central processing;
• Completion of formal training program related to instrument processing
• HS Diploma or above
• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Physical Requirements: Position involves standing and walking for long periods of time, approximately 75% of the workday; Must have desterity, coordination, and visual and auditory acuity to perform all job responsibilities; Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; Must be able to stoop, push carts, bend, and lift in stocking supplies; Must be free from signs of illness and infection.
