Sterile Supply Tech II- Endoscopy - Maine Health

Responsible for processing instrumentation and equipment. Stores, distributes and maintains inventory of required sterile and disposable supplies. Responsible for services supporting primarily for the Operating Room, Inpatient and Outpatient Nursing Units, Pulmonary, Anesthesia Departments as well as satellite offices and healthcare associates outside of Maine Medical Center.

Implements critical thinking in a complex work environment. Participates in selection of safe and effective supplies and equipment to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Must reach Sterile Supply Technician III status within three (3) years after hire date by passing the appropriate competency and certification exams.

Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

License/Certifications: N/A

Experience: A minimum of one year of Sterile Processing or Operating Room experience. Competent and proficient in decontamination or at least three technical areas.

Manual dexterity necessary to grasp and handle a variety of small, delicate instruments and sound eye-hand coordination in order to adjust and assemble instruments and equipment.

Physical abilities necessary to walk and stand almost constantly and to frequently lift and carry trays and supplies weighing up to twenty-five pounds.

Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment.

Ability to handle problems in courteous and tactful manner. Must have communication and interpersonal skills. Work efficiently with other diverse work groups and departments.

Attend specified number of in services and ongoing education to support practice.

Communication skills necessary to work well with others and to respond to internal and external customers.
