About the Job
As part of the Global Commodity Management Group, the Strategic Procurement Specialist will assume a lead role for developing and implementing category and sourcing strategy for Plastics and Resins categories for NA manufacturing sites. This will include various types of plastic resins and plastics consumables. The successful candidate will collaborate with Global Commodity Management in developing category strategies based on existing and future spend, demand, supply challenges, and marketplace conditions, ensuring alignment with the business and project objectives. The role will lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams to ensure Bio-Rad is leveraging spend, driving best value and improving overall supplier performance.
How You’ll Make An Impact:
- Develop and implement global procurement and sourcing strategies for plastics consumables and resin commodities to result in the use of highest value suppliers while optimizing Total Cost of Ownership (TCoO).
- The strategy will include market analysis, supply chain risk assessment, source selection, and contract negotiation.
- Lead sourcing activities and direct corresponding RFP activities.
- Identify and qualify potential suppliers, evaluate, and communicate performance. Manage and develop long-term partnerships with suppliers to enhance overall capabilities and result in more efficient product development and a more agile supply chain.
- Work closely with external suppliers and internal cross functional teams to proactively identify opportunities for implementation of cost savings, lead time reductions, quality enhancements, and overall improved service levels.
What You Bring:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Procurement or Supply Chain Management, or related discipline. MBA preferred.
- Work Experience: 6+ years’ experience in Procurement with at least 2 years in Supply Assurance Buying and 2 years in Demand Buying, Materials Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience sourcing vendors through an RFP process and negotiating vendor contracts.
- Act as a leader and project manager for various supply chain initiatives, RFPs, and supply optimization projects.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Coursework towards CPM/CPSM and/or CPIM certification is preferred.
- Full knowledge and application of the principles and theories of procurement and supply chain.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Strong oral and written communication, confident negotiator, and strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- This position requires 25% international and domestic travel.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $102,200 to $140,500 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
