TheStrategic Sourcing Category Manager,Direct Categoriesis an individual with passion and deep understanding oftheRawMaterialsin Dietary Supplements Direct Materials with an emphasis onIngredients(e.g.Vitamins, Joint Health,etc.). CategoryManagersare responsible for strategic sourcing while ensuring business continuity and supply assurance. The Strategic Sourcing Category Manager, Direct Materials reports to the Manager,Strategic SourcingDirectRaw Materials.  

Key responsibilities

Critical contribution this role is counted on to deliver include:

• Developing category strategiesandmanaging end-to-end strategic sourcing. 

• Leading spend management via cost savings/avoidance. 

• Supplier relationship managementandrisk mitigation. 

• Creating market data & analytical reports to support X-functional departments (e.g.Finance, Marketing, Sales, and other internal teams.) 

• Develop robust sourcing category strategiesviaa thorough understanding ofdemand and supply dynamics, conducting supply risk assessments,identifying,and usingthebestsourcing levers, developing SRM strategy, building an implementation roadmap; and align the category strategy with sourcing leadership and cross functionalstakeholders. 

• Responsible forleveragingand being educated oncategory market intelligence, executing strategic sourcing events, price modelling, tracking supplier performance scorecards, contractmanagement.  

• Building/leveraging RFx templates,supplier outreach,thesupplierselection,commercialterms,and contract T&Cnegotiations. Maximize value for money viarightbalance between Price, Quality, and Service for all purchased ingredients.   

• Serves as a liaison between other departments andsuppliersto ensure adequate supplies of materials are available on hand when needed. 

• Work with internal stakeholders and suppliers tooptimizespend andidentifyand deliver cost savings/cost avoidance opportunities as well as to develop a pipeline for future savings.  

• Manage supplier qualifications for new suppliers, supplier quality issuesand Supplier Relationship Management programs with strategic suppliers.

• Develop and implement supply risk mitigation strategies.  

• Collaboratewith Planning, Marketing, Innovation Team, R&D, Regulatory, Quality Control Department, TechnicalOperations,and supplier to resolve quality and rejected materials problems to ensure manufacturing has highest quality of materialsrequired. 

• Actively supports New Product Development process by bringingnew itemsand technologies from external sources.

You'll be most successful in this role if you have: 

• Strong presentationand communicationskills and experience presenting to C-Suite executive leadership. 

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

• Functional knowledge of theDirect MaterialCategories,with an emphasis onIngredients.  

• End to end strategic sourcingknowledge andexperience forexecuting sourcing events. 

• Commercial and contractual negotiation experience with suppliers. 

• Demonstrated financial, quantitative, and analytical skills and their application on project evaluation. 

• The ability to incorporate market intelligence and data analytics into the category strategies and toleveragethe information during contract negotiations. 

Capabilities & Skills Required

To take on these challenges,you'll need to have: 

•  5+ years of work experience including3years of Sourcing experience. 

• Bachelor's degreefrom s 4 year university or college.   

• Supply Chainand Business Intelligence experience.Ingredientsourcing preferred.  

• Experience building operational reports and KPI dashboards. 

• Desirable to have program management experience and project management experiencerequired. 

• Working knowledge with Sourcing Contracting, ERP,eRFXsystems preferred (e.g.Ariba, Workday, Other). 

• Ability toleveragestandard business applications for communicating,presenting,and analyzing (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

• Advanced levelproficiencyusing negotiations and contracting skills. 

• Financial acumen:Financial statementimpact of raw material categories(P&L and Balance Sheet),Cost modeling,“What if” financial modelingassessing business options,  

• Experience with commodity forecasting and financial modeling a plus.  

• Navigate complex challengeswith a sense ofurgency.  

• Influence without authority, deal with ambiguity, cultivate peer relationships.

• Advanced communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to speak to different audiences. 

• Ability to travel out of state or internationally up to 20% of the time. 

• Think through complex problemsand drive to resolutionusing analysis from multiple sources and compiling information into a clear frameworkusing diverse sources of market intelligence andresources.
