Being in the field allows us to better understand our sponsors' needs so we can bring MITRE to bear to deliver exactly what is needed.Roles & Responsibilities:We are seeking a Principal Engineer to be the Group Lead for Strategy & Execution
We work with both internal MITRE projects and sponsors across all of MITRE's sponsors
The selected candidate will partner with the Department Manager, Chief Engineer, and Group Leads to promote and pursue strategic direction and outcomes, shape new work, and lead key related activities
You will supervise and coach a diverse team of highly motivated software engineers.In addition to the typical responsibilities of a group lead to coach employees and maximize their potential, the Strategy & Execution Group Lead provides department strategic leadership and acts as a proxy for the Department Manager
They are expected to take a leadership role in shaping and executing the department’s services and long-term strategy
Additional responsibilities include closely partnering with other Group Leaders in the department, providing strategic direction for department hiring, and working with department and division leadership on special initiatives to grow and shape services and capabilities.Basic Qualifications:Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 7 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 4 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Strong people leader with 2+ years demonstrated success as a GL, TL or PLActive Secret clearance is required for considerationA passion to develop the technical, management, and business skills of othersTechnical competency to peer review our staff’s workCollaborative and able to work in a close-knit environmentAbility to foster a productive and satisfying work environmentAbility to have challenging conversations in a respectful, empathetic, and productive mannerAn entrepreneurial spirit with experience growing work programsThis position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-sitePreferred Qualifications: Active Top Secret clearanceAdvanced degree in technical field of studyKnowledge of MITRE people management systems and processesKnowledge of MITRE business operations systems and processesThis requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):SecretThis requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):SecretSalary compensation range and midpoint:$168,500 - $210,500 - $252,500 AnnualWork Location Type:HybridMITRE is proud to be an equal opportunity employer
