System One is seeking an experienced Stress Analysis Engineer for a 12-month remote contract to support the Natrium Core Assemblies project. In this role, you will perform stress analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and hand calculations, collaborating closely with the Core Component Design team and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure high-quality engineering designs.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Perform stress analysis for Natrium Core Assemblies using FEA tools and hand calculations.
+ Present analysis results to both internal and external stakeholders.
+ Interface with the Core Component Design team and contribute to engineering design activities.
+ Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to gather inputs and ensure alignment on design requirements.
+ Continuously apply nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
Qualifications:
+ B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (preferred).
+ Minimum 10 years of structural analysis experience (M.S. and Doctorate degrees may count for 2 and 4 years of experience, respectively).
+ Proficiency in FEA for nonlinear analysis, with a focus on ANSYS or ABAQUS.
+ Experience with first-principles calculations and closed-form approximations (e.g., Shigley's, Roark's).
+ Experience with scripting languages like APDL or Python.
+ Familiarity with CAD software, SolidWorks preferred.
+ Working knowledge of design codes such as ASME BPVC (Section III, Division I & V, Section VIII, Division II) and API 579-1/ASME FFS-1.
+ Strong communication and writing skills.
+ High degree of integrity, teamwork-oriented, and open communication.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently on challenging tasks.
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Expertise in ASME BPVC Section III, Division 5 rules.
+ Advanced experience with ANSYS and APDL.
+ Proficiency with ABAQUS.
+ Experience with nonlinear material models, contact pairing, Elastic Perfectly Plastic (EPP) analysis, fatigue, creep, creep-fatigue, brittle fracture, and buckling analysis.
+ Skilled in hand calculations for stress analysis.
+ Prior experience in the nuclear industry, particularly with core assemblies.
+ Familiarity with the effects of radiation on austenitic and martensitic stainless steel alloys.
+ Strong calculation report writing and verification skills.
