Tri-State Overhead Crane, an engineering driven crane manufacturer in business since 1959, has built a reputation on serving general contractors, municipalities and a wide variety of manufacturing companies. Our specialty is the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of overhead cranes, runway systems, fall protection systems and lifting beams.
This role offers a unique combination that allows engineers to design one-of-a-kind solutions and work with our machinist and fabricators to see their designs come to life. Each design is job specific, so the position will have variety when it comes to the solutions being created.
The Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Review of customer specifications, product concepts, and related documentation to determine best overall solution and design
- Perform technical calculations for design of crane supporting structures, affiliated components, and buildings revolving around steel and concrete design
- Ensure designs meet all applicable codes, industry standards and customer specifications.
- Check drawings and calculations performed by other engineers and designers.
- Interact and communicate effectively with engineering department, draftsman, sales team, and production.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
- 3-5+ years' experience or more in design engineering
- Experience in manufacturing and metal fabrication desired
- Knowledge of AWS and AISC standards
- PE (MO or IL) preferred but not required
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Solid (3-5 years) design experience in industry
- SolidWorks experience
- Strong AutoCAD experience and utilization
- Material handling industry knowledge a plus
