Structural Design Engineer - ACS

Job Description

The Design Engineer is a managerial level position. This person will be working under a Design Manager and makes decisions with broad influence on the design activities of assigned projects for the Design Team. The Design Engineer demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgement in planning, organizing, designing, and detailing the specific design aspects of assigned projects for the Design Teams.  The Design Engineer is a key member of the Project Design Team and is responsible for seamlessly integrating the structural design function into the overall project design.
 General Characteristics
• Has a thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of engineering for the structural discipline and how to coordinate with other disciplines for project coordination.
• Has broad knowledge and skills in design.
• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform tasks for conventional projects with medium to complex features.
• Collaboratively uses judgement to determine adaptation in methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments.
• Coordinates work on projects having medium to high-level complexity and scope.

Qualifications

Education Required:
• BS or MS in Engineering with licensure as a Professional Engineer in Tennessee and additional States as requested.

Experience Required:

• Registration as a Professional Engineer who will be responsible charge for specific Engineering Discipline on Design Projects.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in structural design related to Building Construction. 
• Understanding of AutoCAD and Revit. The ability to draft is a strong plus.
• Strong understanding of design fundamentals and practices.
• Knowledge of Construction Industry and Engineering Principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Computer proficient with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
