The KPFF Sacramento office is located in Roseville, just 18 miles from Downtown Sacramento. Roseville's affordability, parks, and school systems make it a highly desirable place to live and helped land it in the top 50 U.S. cities to live and retire in. Roseville neighborhoods range from historic to new construction homes and there are more than 80 parks and recreation facilities throughout the city.
We provide engineering services to both private and public sectors with projects in a vast market sector including; Commercial, Retail, Mixed-Use, Hospitality, Multi-Family Housing, Parks & Recreational Facilities, Health Care, K-12 Schools, Higher Education, Military, Transportation, and Public Agencies.
The scope of our services may include preliminary design, structural analysis and calculations, Building Information Modeling (BIM), seismic and wind design, foundation design, retrofit and rehabilitation, construction support, value engineering, peer review, research and innovation, client and stakeholder communication, and project management.
Job Overview:
As a Structural Engineer at KPFF, you will leverage your experience to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to our team of engineers. You will be responsible for overseeing the design process, ensuring adherence to industry standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and delivering exceptional results on high-profile projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design and analysis of complex structural projects, providing technical expertise and guidance to ensure safe and efficient solutions.
- Collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to develop innovative design strategies that balance aesthetics, functionality, and structural integrity.
- Review engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Provide mentorship and professional development guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate structural conditions, identify potential challenges, and propose effective solutions.
- Play a key role in client interactions, addressing their technical concerns, presenting design solutions, and building strong working relationships.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in structural engineering, integrating relevant innovations into project approaches.
- Collaborate with the business development team to prepare technical proposals, estimates, and project scopes for potential clients.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.
- Over 6 years of progressive experience in structural engineering within consulting engineering or similar market/projects
- Extensive expertise in structural analysis software (e.g., Risa, RAM, ETABS) and proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
- In-depth knowledge of relevant design codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, ASCE) and a track record of applying them to complex projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading interdisciplinary teams and collaborating with architects, contractors, and clients.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information and project requirements.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within budget and timeline constraints.
- Experience with seismic design, advanced analysis techniques, and sustainable design practices is highly advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related field.
- Leadership experience, such as managing a team of engineers or leading large-scale projects.
- Expertise in specialized areas such as façade engineering, earthquake engineering, cold-formed steel design, or specialty structures.
- Proven track record of successful client engagement and business development activities.
- Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM) software and familiarity with collaborative design platforms.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while working on a computer, reviewing plans, or conducting site visits.
- Ability to move around client and work sites, climb ladders , and traverse uneven terrain
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds of equipment or materials.
