Overview
As the Structural Engineer you will be responsible for helping to develop the structural plans for new and existing facilities with heavy and industrial equipment. The facilities you will be working on are in the heavy industrial equipment space. This Structural Engineer can work out of Cedar Rapids, IA or Birmingham, AL.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers and project managers, to integrate structural design seamlessly into overall systems development.
- Conduct detailed structural analysis and design for integrating process equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications. Primary scopes would be structural steel supports, structures, and platforms; as well as steel-reinforced concrete foundations, vaults, and pits.
- Utilize advanced engineering software and tools to perform both timely concept evaluations as well as accurate complex final design analysis.
- Prepare comprehensive construction drawings, specifications, documentation, budget estimates, and firm price bids for internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform site visits and inspections to assess existing structures and ensure proper installation.
- Stay abreast of industry advancements, codes, and standards to contribute to the continuous improvement of our structural engineering practices.
- Effectively communicate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to address project requirements and resolve technical issues
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one US state, NCEES record preferred.
- 8-10+ years of hands-on experience in structural engineering including steel and concrete, with a specialization in heavy industrial equipment.
- Proficiency in utilizing standard CAD software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Inventor, as well as cutting-edge structural analysis/design software such as ANSYS, Staad Pro, etc.
- Expert knowledge of industry-specific codes, standards, and regulations.
- Impeccable problem-solving skills and an unwavering attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
