About the Job
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a structural engineer in our buildings structural group. Engineer will have hands on exposure to analysis and design of building foundation and framing systems, under the tutelage of an experienced structural engineer. Should have basic knowledge of design with steel, concrete, masonry, and timber. Familiarity of applicable codes is a plus (IBC, ASCE7, etc.).
Responsibilities:• Design structural building framing and foundation systems, including steel, concrete, masonry, and timber designs under the guidance of an experienced structural engineer
• Perform engineering calculations with the aid of computer software, spreadsheets, and hand calculations
• Create structural design plans and details in AutoCAD
• Assist with the lead Project Engineer with the management of projects
• Perform site visits and survey the structural components of existing buildings during design
• Coordinate with architects, owners, and other engineering disciplines
• During construction, review shop drawings, respond to RFI’s, and perform site visits
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
• 0-5 years of experience
• A willingness to learn
• EIT certification
• PE certification is a plus but not required
• AutoCAD experience preferred. Knowledge of Revit is not required but a plus
• Basic understanding of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structural design principles
• Microsoft Office (Specifically Word and Excel) knowledge
• Strong communication skills
