STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (PE) - CORAL GABLES
Job Responsibilities:
- Review plans and specifications for commercial, industrial, and residential projects to verify they meet city, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Lead preconstruction meetings with contractors, developers, and relevant staff to discuss project details.
- Offer technical guidance and assistance to inspection teams, particularly when field issues arise.
- Address and resolve complaints from clients, applicants, the public, designers, and contractors.
- Maintain regular communication with municipal clients and their staff.
- Conduct on-site inspections as needed, providing interpretations of building codes.
- Attend meetings, seminars, and events focused on building codes and related regulations.
Required Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of local building codes and modern construction practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, the public, contractors, government agencies, and clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and effective time management.
- Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and make sound judgments.
- Skilled in drafting plan review correspondence and updating records in company software.
- Capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with various editions of International Building Codes and a commitment to staying updated.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs.
This role requires someone with strong expertise in building codes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
Required Certifications:
- FL PE License in Structural required
- 3-5 years combined experience in building department field inspection and plans examiner duties.
- Full Driving License
