SSOE is seeking a Structural Spring 2025 Rotation Co-op. This position is an onsite role that requires you to work at our Atlanta, GA office each day. Remote or hybrid work for this role is not available.
The ideal candidate should be able to complete a minimum of 2 full-time, alternating co-op rotations in the office where they are being hired for prior to their graduation.
Responsibilities:The following duties are typical of the position, but are not all encompassing. Each person is expected to help out in whatever duties are required to deliver a quality product on schedule and within budget in a team environment.
- Performs assigned tasks under close supervision of Department Manager or designee. Receives specific and detailed instruction.
Review existing structural drawings, understand how a set of structural construction drawings are put together and how to create a 3D model from those drawings.
Use Autodesk REVIT for creating a 3D Building information model. Review the model with your supervisor to ensure the model is accurate enough for renovating the building.
Review various types of shop drawings from structural steel to masonry and foundations. Compare them versus the construction documents and markup for structural engineer to review.
Use of Bluebeam Revu software for marking up PDF files and review with your supervisor and project engineer after completion.
Create analytical models in structural software programs, RISA 3D, Tedds, RAM structural systems to coordinate with the 3D BIM models. Spot check, by hand, the results and review with your supervisor or project engineer.
- Learns and uses department standards, methods, and procedures respective to field of study.
- Meets various deadlines on daily duties or special projects as assigned by DM or designee.
Periodically visit construction sites to review structure and foundation status and provide report and action items for contractors in ACC.
- Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.
Qualifications:
- Students must be enrolled in a co-op program at an ABET accredited engineering school majoring in Structural or Civil Engineering or technically related discipline.
- Second or third academic year preferred.
- Must be registered with the Office of Professional Experience Program or equivalent.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Salary range: $20-$23 per hour depending on year in school.
