Job Summary:
Steelworks of the Carolinas is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join our team in Piedmont, SC. The Structural Steel Estimator will be responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for structural steel projects. This role requires a deep understanding of construction processes, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Blueprint Analysis: Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project requirements to determine the scope of work.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment needed for structural steel projects.
- Proposal Development: Create and present comprehensive project proposals, including cost breakdowns and timelines.
- Vendor Relations: Communicate with suppliers to obtain pricing for materials and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Bid Preparation: Compile and submit competitive bids, ensuring all necessary documentation is included.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgets.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Market Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and competitive pricing to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
- Client Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with clients throughout the estimation process.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in structural steel estimating or a similar role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD) and strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry standards.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in preparing estimates and documentation.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.
