Passion for our mission and vision is required! This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.As a functional manager of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will lead a team of tooling and build engineers responsible for the tooling design and analysis to support assembly and handling of the New Glenn Second Stage structures, as well as the build support of new hardware designs
As the leader of this team, you will have technical, budgetary, and schedule accountability for trade studies, detailed design, strength analysis, and drawing release for this tooling
You and your team will follow through on the manufacturing, testing, and implementation of these designs.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Recruit, hire, manage, delegate to, and mentor a diverse, equitable, and inclusive teamFacilitate your direct reports' professional growth (e.g., hiring, performance evaluations, managing compensation and promotions, regular one-on-one development discussions) and mentor them on performance.Develop and manage technical project plans to meet deliverables on an aggressive schedulePerform technical leadership and make data-informed decisions when needed on design-related topicsEliminate roadblocks for your teamDevelop modeling, drawing, and design for manufacturability processes that result in efficient and consistent released engineering productsEnsure compliance with Blue Origin's detailed policies and procedures, as well as industry specifications.Deliver Tooling and GSE that support GS2 buildsAssist with authoring various manufacturing engineering documentation (work orders, policies, procedures, manuals, etc.).Collaborate and engage with individuals from different departments and business units to achieve mission objectives.Champion and promote a culture of safety and quality first.Embrace, promote, and mentor the Blue Origin leadership principlesMinimum Qualifications:BS degree in EngineeringMinimum 5 years experience in aerospace, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures, or automotiveExperience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Production Lifestyle Management (PLM) softwareExperience leading product and people through various product lifecycle stages including concept, development, and production.Experience with managing and dispositioning non conformancesCost estimating experience of medium size multidisciplinary engineering projectsExperience developing and managing schedules and budgetExcellent written and oral communication skills; comfortable communicating strategies with Sr LeadershipExperience leading and guiding engineering teams, assisting individuals in reaching their career and organizational goalsAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, contribute to a culture of inclusion while acting as liaison between design and production.Must be a U.S
